Pac-10 Week 2 Wrap Up: How Our Predictions Fared

By Dave Consolazio, September 13, 2009 2:54 pm

I can’t really sum it up a whole lot better than Sam did when he texted me shortly after all of the days action was officially in the books;

“College football is a trip.”

No amount of number crunching or game watching can put you in a position to see it all coming. Every week you find yourself shaking your head and just saying “wow”. Isn’t that what makes it so great, though?

Saturday

Wake Forest 24 – Stanford 17 (Game Matchup)
Sam: Stanford 27 – Wake Forest 21 (L)
Dave: Wake Forest 24 – Stanford 21 (W)

Washington 42 – Idaho 23 (Game Matchup)
Sam: Washington 45 – Idaho 14 (W)
Dave: Washington 45 – Idaho 23 (W)

UCLA 19 – Tennessee 15 (Game Matchup)
Sam: Tennessee 31 – UCLA 20 (L)
Dave: Tennessee 20 – UCLA 13 (L)

Cal 59 – Eastern Washington 7 (Game Matchup)
Sam: Cal 52 – Eastern Washington 13 (W)
Dave: Cal 56 – Eastern Washington 6 (W)

Hawaii 38 – Washington State 20 (Game Matchup)
Sam: Washington State 28 – Hawaii 23 (L)
Dave: Washington State 24 – Hawaii 17 (L)

USC 18 – Ohio State 15 (Game Matchup)
Sam: USC 35 – Ohio State 20 (W)
Dave: USC 38 – Ohio State 13 (W)

Arizona 34 – Northern Arizona 17 (Game Matchup)
Sam: Arizona 42 – Northern Arizona 10 (W)
Dave: Arizona 45 – Northern Arizona 9 (W)

Oregon 38  – Purdue 36 (Game Matchup)
Sam: Oregon 38 – Purdue 27 (W)
Dave: Oregon 41 – Purdue 24 (W)

Oregon State 23 – UNLV 21 (Game Matchup)
Sam: Oregon State 37 – UNLV 28 (W)
Dave: UNLV 31 – Oregon State 21 (L)

After starting off the season 8-1 on our predictions, week 2 was not so good to us. We were both happy to be wrong on UCLA as they picked up an impressive upset win in Tennessee, and frustrated with a Cougars loss that sets up the very real possibility of a winless season. Splitting on Stanford and Oregon State brings us both to 6-3 on the day, 14-4 on the season.

And it won’t get any easier from here!
