Was reading some feedback on this piece over at http://www.bearinsider.com (Cal Bears forum) that was pointing out that my comment that “With Kevin Riley (sacked 19 times last season) likely to be asked to just run a safe offense this season and let his running backs do the work” wasn’t really indicative of Tedford’s enthusiasm for the offense this year.

This is a fair point. I don’t doubt that Tedford and ex-Utes offensive coordinator Andy Ludwig will definitely be more creative than simple run-run-pass. I didn’t word it as well as I could have; I just meant that Cal’s running game will be it’s bread and butter, and Kevin Riley will be asked to make smart decisions with the football (be safe and keep the turnovers down). By safe, I didn’t mean to infer that the offense was going to be boring/vanilla, but it did read that way.
